I learned a tremendous amount of fun making my very first animation! First, I learned the power of storyboards and planning, two steps I wish I focused more on. When I make another animation, I will make sure that there is a coherent plot that carries the viewers throughout. That said, I loved the abstract art feeling that I cultivated but I wish that the clips could have worked together better. Next, Adobe After Effects was so interesting to work with, I got carried away playing with it. I loved learning how to distort an object or image to make it come to life. I also had the most fun moving an object like my pineapples around the screen, especially when overlapping with my friends. I think that I spent too much time cutting apart the pineapple characters as if they were Mr.Potato Head pieces. I wish that I knew how easy it was to manipulate the full image before doing excess pre-work in Photoshop. To me, this animation represented freedom and free will, an exploration of our world combined with our imagination. Because this video symbolized adventure and excitement, it makes sense that I came at it with less of a strict storyline and more of a fun and quirky creative approach. I am grateful to have gotten this experience and will most definitely utilize these new tools again soon.
